The Antalya Region has always been settled, ever since the Paleolithic Age untill today. Since there are names of this region mentioned in Homer's Illiad, it is obvious that there was an indigenous people called Pamphilio living in in this region around 1200 B.C. The region later was under the sovereignty of the Lydian Kingdom, the Persians and Alexander the Great. The western part of Pamphillia was acquired by the King Attalos II of Pergarnon in 2nd century B.C. and the king founded a city on the western coast of the Mediterranean Sea and gave his name to the city, “Attalia”, today’s Antalya.

Seleukeia (Lybre) it is one of nine cities named after Seleukos Nicator, one of the generals of Alexander the Great

Seleukeia is near the Bucak Şıhlar Village , 12 km. North, East of Manavgat.

It is one of nine cities named after Seleukos Nicator, one of the generals of Alexander the Great in the 3 rd cent B.C. The strong city walls and good strategical position suggest that it was founded here to protect the coastal cities against the attacks from the north. Side was the nearest and the closest commercial partner of Seleukeia.

Located in Side town of Manavgat District 4 km from Manavgat.

he majority of exhibits in the museum are the ruins discovered by Prof. Dr. Arif Müfid Mansel in excavations during 1947-1967, in the ancient town of Side. There are inscriptions, weapon embossing from Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Periods, sculptures which are Roman Period copies of Greek originals, torsos, temples, tomb steles, portraits, ostotecs and column pedestals on exhibition in the museum.

There are two dams on it. The Oymapinar and the Manavgat dams.Its clean and pure turquoise green water is rich with minerals. If you wish to, you may swim a stroke in these green and cool waters or make small explorations in a canoe.
